With all the rain this past week, we were excited today to actually be able to get outside and work on the barn. It's coming along pretty good and now we've reached a one of our first critical decisions....which door do we want on the front of the barn? I got two different ones (the two cheapest!) and asked Tarah to help me decide. And what do ya know...we disagreed. Not too bad, though, because we both are okay with either one--we just had our own preference. So, we thought it would be fun to see what you all think. Now you'll have to kind of use your imagination. Remember there will be trim around the door and windows, with possibly window boxes as well.
First, we have Tarah's selection--the standard 6 panel door. We're going to be painting the sides of the barn, and if we use this door, we would just paint it as well (colors for both are yet to be determined---see future blogs).
Second, we have my selection--the slab door. This one could possibly take a sweet mahogony stain (since that's the stain that we already have left over from other projects) and show off the little bit of wood grain in the door. I think it would look good with the barn being painted.

Sorry Tarah, but I have to side with Jake on this one. The barn has a rustic look and the paneled door seems out of place.
Funny, I kinda' liked the panel door. Cheryl makes a good point thought that the panels might not go with the rest of the barn!
Sorry, for taking so long to get to your post! Haven't even had time to put anything up on my own blog!
I vote flat slab door. Sorry Tarah, I think it looks more like a real barn door.
Dear, Dear Tarah, I feel like everyone is jumping right on top of you--not a comforting image right now. Please don't take it personally, though, cause I know it is truly because they are afraid of Jake. They are trying to stay on his good side. I, on the otherhand, must be totally honest and say that I choose your door--with a few alterations. You might "sand off" the panels and see if you can make it look a little more "barney," say somewhat like the one pictured below it. I'd definitely paint it. But never let it be said that I was intimidated by Jake or side with him at your expense.
Actually, they are both darling doors--you just cannot go wrong! Compassionately, Mom
We see who has the best taste in BARN DOORS!!!!...(JAKE)... good thing Tarah decorates the house.

I'm really more concerned about the curtains--fabric, color or colors, hardware, etc. And, can you post some style choices. April, do you still have some pink camo material? That might be very special. But, I think something in a burgundy burlap or creamy crinkle crepe might be rather spectacular. Whadayathink!
